How much per though? 30 goals is gonna be pricey.

Good news is, he wants to be there. Closer to his family, and he grew up a Devils fan. Could see him being the future captain of the Devils.

Nah dude, he grew up a Ranger fan. Look it up. There was a fire and ice blog about it.

That's right, he played for the youth Devils, but was a Rangers fan.

I can't see him going anywhere else though, family is very important, and they were thrilled to have him back so close to home. He's a good kid.

Hell of a trade the Devils made to acquire this kid. Had a tremendous year and don't see any reason why he won't continue that level of production, if healthy, over the course of another six or seven seasons, he can be a force for Jersey.

Oof, I hope not much over 5, unless it's no more than a 4 year deal. I don't think we've seen the very best of Palmieri, yet, but I don't think his ceiling is much higher than what we've seen. I don't see him hitting 70-75 points...I don't see him being much better than mid-60s, unless he ends up with a really good, Adam Oates type center.

I doubt it reaches 6 mil. It will probably be more of a 6 year/$28 range, possibly even less. He's too young to be demanding 5-6 mil.

At 23, Henrique signed a 6yr/24mill (4 mill per) and hadn't had a 30 goal season. His highest season total at that point came as a rookie when he centered Kovy and Parise. Now at 25, Palmieri is about to sign after a 30 goal, 57 point season on a team that struggles to score. I could see him reaching 70 points as his ceiling if we had a better supporting staff and without that goal drought he hit (which, if I'm being fair, will happen to him at various times of his career just like everybody at points). I'd give him 5 or 6 years for 5 million per. Hopefully he bites at it and we can close on that. Having two thirty goal scorers locked up in their primes for a total of 9 million dollars per season would be some of the best deals in the league.

I'll be surprised if it is over $5mil. After one great season after playing limited minutes on the Ducks over several years I don't think his agent has much leverage to ask for much more than 4-4.75 mil per year. The length of the contract will be the leverage point for his agent. I am sure he will want 5-6 years and may push for max length but I doubt the Devils would give that to him. I see a 6year/28.5 mil contract max. Who knows.

I think he sees the leverage he has and gets 5 for 5.5 mil.

If they could get him 4 or 4.5 a year that would be great

Henrique's sitaution was different. Rico have two consecutive 40 points season, 1 being the 50 point. Palmieri have hit over 40 points only once, that being this year and Rico has had at least 40 points every year. 5 mil should be the max. Also, if there are better players around him that could work against him, because he could be bumped to the 2nd PP then and could change his minutes in other areas.

You guys are high if you think Palmieris agent is going to allow him to sign for any less than 5 mil a year unless we are talking about a 1-2 year contract. He's now a 30 goal scorer that is two years away from UFA status, if you want to buy a few of those UFA years it's going to cost a minimum of 5 per.

They didn't screw around with bridge deals for Henrique or Larsson and it's worked out, they shouldn't do it with Palmieri either offer him either 5 years for 25 million or 6 years for 30 million. This team has plenty of cap space but not many goal scorers. Why (frank) around just get it done.
